Not Waiting for Megan

Ok, I can't wait any longer for Megan, you would think she was busy or something! So I am going to write my own blog, my view of what is happening around the barn these days.

For those of you who have not been out at the barn lately we have several new horses on the propety. Megan found some bargains that she couldn't pass up. We have 4 new horses of our own. 3 very nice registered Quarter horse geldings. Sparkle is a very sweet and quiet palomino, he has already been put to work in our lessons ,he is that great. Arnie is my new reining prospect, hope to be going to some competitions next year, I guess I better get busy training!! Chunky is Megans new addition, she is hoping to beat me in those competitions next year, the challenge is on

I have thrown down the gauntlet Megan!!

We also have Mouse, she is Oats' twin, just taller and not as fat. She also has joined the lesson program. We are hoping to retire a few of our "oldies", no I am not talking about myself!

Moose and Charli are 21 and 22, although they still do very well. Charli will continue to be used in beginner classes, but Moose had some back issues this fall and will be taking some time off, we are confident he will be ready for light riding by February.  Pepper is still pushy at 20, still going strong in the beginner classes too.

We have a couple of new boarders, sisters Michelle and Melani and horses Jessi, sorrel mare and Ziggy or smokey or? (still haven't settled on a name), he is the black and white gelding, looks like Skor's little brother. Roxanne brought her retired mare Miriah to our place from  British Columbia. Miriah had injured herself and still walks slighlty sideways, she is hanging out in the orange gate with Filet, who is also ours.  Joker is also in there eating as much as he can, his owner is Bonnie. They go out for a trail ride most Saturday afternoons if anyone is interested in joining them.

We have also started a Sunday morning "workshop". We gather in the arena on our horses and Megan tries to help us become better rides, Good Luck with that Meg! Egeryone is invited to join us, we are usually riding by about 11 a.m.  I

Hoof It for the Cure 2009

The second annual Hoof it for the Cure - trail ride and fund raiser.

The ride started out a little rainy, but by mile one the rain stopped, the sun never made an apearence but it did not stop it from being a great ride. 36 riders came together to make it a very enjoyable day.

The games where fun and entertaining for all rides and spectators.

Thank you to Tanis Frost of Stoney Mountain for the great dinner, and all the volunteers who gave there time to help us enjoy the day.

Hoof it for the Cure raised $2400 this year for Cancer Care Manitoba.

Mark your calendar for next years ride October 3rd 2010.
